Friends, I’ve found my new favorite way to shop for antiques and furniture that fit into my teeny tiny budget! I have recently been having unbelievably good luck finding some beautiful pieces on Facebook Marketplace, and I can’t wait to share just a glimpse of a few of the treasures I’ve found! There was about a two week stretch where I was on fire, finding so many amazing deals on exactly what I was looking for. Messages from sellers replying to my offers where coming in so fast that I could barely keep up with all my good finds! I was making lists of all the places my husband needed to stop and pick things up, mapping out the fastest routes, and borrowing my father-in-law’s trailer to haul all my amazing finds back home. It was fantastic!
If you’ve never used Facebook Marketplace, there is a little icon when you log into your Facebook account that looks like a house, or maybe it’s supposed to be a little building with an awning. Whatever it is, when you click on it, you can choose the location you would like to search, as well as set a limit to the number of miles you would like to travel. Then you can search for specific items. When you find something you like, you can send the seller a message, and I’ve found that people usually reply very quickly. I love that you can see if the seller has read your message, and many times I’ve been able to message back and forth with a seller instantly, almost like texting. And Facebook Marketplace does a nice job of narrowing down my style and interests based on the things I’ve searched for, so it automatically shows me new things that are listed that I might like! I can save the link to certain pieces that I’m thinking about so I don’t have to scroll through tons of items to find them again later, and sellers can mark when an item has sold. I’m sure Facebook Marketplace has tons of other cool features and options, these are just the things I’ve used so far. And the results have been amazing!
These are just a few of the treasures that I’ve found recently!
Often when I’m traveling I change the location of my search to the area that I’ll be visiting, and that really opens up more of a selection for me. My sister also recently picked up a gorgeous chandelier that I found listed in her area that is the same vintage brass and crystal as the other lights in my house. It’s so dreamy!
Friends, do you have any other tips for using Facebook Marketplace? I’ve only recently started using it, so I know there is so much more for me to learn. Do you have any amazing finds?
